Bio: Heike is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at Queen’s Business School (QBS), Queen’s University Belfast, UK. She is currently Head of Department of the "Organisation, Work and Leadership Department" at QBS. Heike holds a PhD in HRM from Middlesex University Business School, London, UK. Heike has a special interest in comparative HRM. Her research focuses on employment career transitions and trajectories of older workers across countries, focusing on Europe and East Asia. Predominantly using qualitative interview data, she explores how older workers approach, navigate, and make sense of mid-career job transitions as well as of work-retirement transitions. She considers the roles of national institutional context, organisational Human Resource Management policies and practices as well as individual-level determinants in enabling, creating barriers for or enforcing career transitions in later life. She has published her research in Human Relations, Human Resource Management Journal and Journal of Social Policy, among others. Heike teaches Global HRM and Business, Government and Society.
